In the early days of his career, Myles participated in a county-by-county survey of local courts in the Kentucky Office for Judicial Planning -- a project which led to the 1975 constitutional amendment creating Kentucky’s unified court system.
Leaving Frankfort in 1976, Myles joined the Criminal Courts Technical Assistance Project in Washington D.C., which advised criminal courts nationwide. He also served on the staff of U.S. Senator Dee Huddleston in 1976, 1977, and 1979.
Myles is the son of longtime Shelby County residents, Mary David and Edmund Myles. He is former chairman of the Shelby Development Corporation and past president of the Shelby County Historical Society and the Shelby County Friends of the Library, Inc.
Myles was a member of the 1997-98 class of Leadership Shelby. He attended Southside and Simpsonville elementary schools and graduated from Shelby County High School in 1971.
Myles is a 1975 graduate of Centre College and received his law degree from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1980. He and his wife, Mary Helen, live in Simpsonville where their restoration of an 1839 farmhouse recently received statewide recognition.
