John David Myles is an attorney and has been in private practice in Shelbyville since June, 1996. In addition to representing private clients and his service as Domestic Relations Commissioner, he has been counsel for the Shelby County Board of Education since 1998 and counsel for the City of Lawrenceburg six of the past eight years.
He has extensive experience in Kentucky state government and its judicial system, serving as General Counsel of the Kentucky Public Service Commission from 1992 through 1996 where he represented the Commission before the General Assembly, the courts, and other agencies.
Myles was counsel for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation from 1983 until 1992. In 1981, U.S. District Judge Thomas A. Ballantine, Jr., selected Myles as Law Clerk. While in this post, he gained important experience in criminal and civil practice including legal research and drafting opinions on issues ranging from antitrust to civil rights.
